William Edward (John Ed) Wilkinson, 79 of Pocahontas and formerly of Delaplaine, died Friday at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. He was born October 15, 1939, in Peach Orchard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Elenora Wilkinson and granddaughter, Claire Vivian Wyatt.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Mary Christina and James Edward Lewis of Dalton, Lacey Shayann and John Robert Wyatt, Jr. of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law, Steven Joseph and Mary Lee Wilkinson of Paragould; grandchildren Stacy Rae (Kyle) Wesselhoft, Autumn Rachelle (Brent) Taylor both of Southaven , Casey Edward Lewis of Dalton, William Chase Wyatt of Paragould. Great grandchildren Rylee Kate Wesselhoft and Grayson Lane Taylor. Aunt, Ola Mae Wilkinson of Dalton.
He was a member of the Delaplaine Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was Superintendent of Delaplaine Schools for many years. “His legacy lives in each Delaplaine alumni”.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Delaplaine Baptist Church with Revs Terry Phipps and David Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in Brownie Cemetery in Peach Orchard.
Pallbearers will be Fred Carter, Gary Burgess, Adam French, Randal Eveland, Don Ricker, Mark Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, J. R. Wyatt, Kyle Wesselhofe, Brent Taylor, Roger Eveland and Jimmy Lewis.
Memorials may be made to Children’s Home of Paragould, Jim Austin Scholarship Fund, Lynn White Murray Scholarship Fund or St. Mary’s Catholic School.
