William Russell “Rusty” Hampton of East Lansing, formerly of Paragould, AR, Passed away May 13, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born in Mounds, AR., March 27, 1932, the son of Osmer and Delphia (Jones) Hampton. Rusty graduated from Lansing Community College with an Associates Degree in accounting. He retired from Michigan Claims Services in 1987 after 25 years. He loved to golf and traveled to Hawaii many times just to play. Rusty was the #1 amputee golfer in Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Violet Smith Hampton; parents; sister, Karen Roland; granddaughter, Lisa Morrell. Rusty is survived by his children, Theresa Smith of MO, David (Shelley) Hampton of TX, Glenn Hampton of MO, Steven (Devon) Hampton of MI, Marilyn (Jim) Acker of MI; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Gene (Bonna) Hampton of MO; sisters, Ann Vangilder, Katie Smith, both of AR. Graveside services will be 10 am Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 pm at the Heath Funeral Home, 321 W.
