Wayne Thomas Abell

Wayne Thomas Abell, 89, a native and lifelong resident of Paragould, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born July 18, 1925 to the late Emanuel and Ella Pike Abell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alice Earline Hyde Abell, infant granddaughter, sisters, Ella Martin and Mary Young, brothers, Bert Abell, John Abell, Pike Abell, J.P. Abell and Nace Abell. He was retired from Wonder Bread and owner of Wayne's Place in Paragould for several years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his children: Dennis (Patti) Abell of Jonesboro, Rebecca (Robert) Mahurin Mutz of Bentonville, AR, David (Mary) Abell of Alexandria, VA, Jeff (Kori) Abell of Merritt Island, Fl; grandchildren: Emily (Jeremy) VanLeeuwen, Holly (Jonathon) Farlin, Meagan Abell, Eric (Keesha) Mahurin, Manny (Julie) Abell; great grandchildren: Teagan Alice Mahurin, Colson Alexander Mahurin, and Matthew Ignatius Abell; brother, David Frank (Sera) Abell and many nieces and nephews. A public rosary will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. with visitation following from 6:30-8:00 P.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 A.M., at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Paragould. Pallbearers are members of the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne's grandsons, Eric Mahurin and Manny Abell; nephews, Mark Martin, Richard Young, Ray Young, Steve Abell, Raymond Abell, Alfred Abell, George Abell, Scott Abell, Martin Abell and Andrew Abell.
