Walter Wayne Dement

Wayne DeMent passed from this life on November 27, 2021 at The Green House Cottages of Belle Meade, at the age of 92. He was born December 12, 1928 to Thomas Wayland and Veneda Pearl Wright DeMent on Indian Island in Greene County Arkansas. He was a graduate of Greene County Tech and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In November 1954, he married his wife of 57 years, Imogene Walker DeMent, who preceded him in death in 2011. Also, preceding him in death are his parents; twin brother, William Zane DeMent; and infant brother, Jerrald.

Wayne was a charter member of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, MO and was proud and humbled to serve on its board for 50 years. He was a faithful member and believed if the church doors were open you needed to be there setting the example for your family and the lost. He had a tender heart for anyone that needed help. He loved to garden and share the produce with his church family, wood working, and sitting on the front porch.

Wayne is survived by one daughter, Margaret DeMent of Paragould, AR; three sons, Dr. Bill (Tammy) DeMent of Paragould, AR, Doug (Donna) DeMent of Cardwell, MO, Greg (Tonna) DeMent of Memphis, TN; two grandsons, Aaron (Kaleigh) DeMent of Rockport, TX, Matthew (Tabitha) DeMent of Manila, AR; two granddaughters, Lori (Charles) Black of Paragould, AR, Heather (Hugh) Walton of Paragould, AR; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zayne, Jensen, Briggs, Ryan, Anna, Taylor, Sydney, Callie, Hudson, Hadley, Henry, Harper, and Hughston. Also surviving are two brothers, Leland “Jim” (Carolyn) DeMent of Paragould, AR, and Clovis (Glenda) DeMent of Rector, AR.

Visitation will be at Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, MO on Wednesday from noon-2:00 with the funeral following immediately. Rev. Mickey Goodwin will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cardwell Cemetery.
