Walter Smothers, Jr.

Walter Smothers, Jr., 88, of Paragould, died Saturday in Jonesboro. He was born in Manila on April 19, 1926 to the late Walter and Mildred Pitman Smothers. He also proudly served in the Army and Navy. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia (Wooden) Smothers, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by daughter, Patsy McClanahan, Paragould; son, Kenneth Smothers, Batesville; grandchildren, Walter Ryan and Steven Tyler Guilford; sister, Darlene Toon of Los Angeles, CA and brother, Odis Smothers. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at a graveside service at Greene County Memorial Gardens with burial following, Ronald "Topper" Killough officiating.
