Walter Clifton Pugh, Jr., 80 of Paragould, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro Friday February 15, 2019. He was born on February 24, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Walter Clifton and Mildred Newberry Pugh. He served as an Army Paratrooper during the Vietnam War then had a successful career as an Engineer for McDonnell Douglas. Walt spent a lot of time volunteering at his church and was a very charitable person. He had a great love of the outdoors and a passion for traveling. He enjoyed yard sales and spent many seasons volunteering at professional golf tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, George, Tommy, Ralph, Jimmy and Ronnie.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years Patricia Pugh, daughter Rita Pugh of Huntington Beach, CA, son Gregory Scott Pugh of Stanton, CA, granddaughter Ashley Staples of Ladera Ranch, CA, step children Scott (Vicki) Herrin of Montgomery, AL, Shari (Jeff) Bergmann of Byron, GA, Jason Seate of Newman, GA, Pamela Gutierrez and Kimbery Gutierrez of Warner Robins, GA, three step grandchildren Zachary Prager, Amanda Fagan and Brandon Herrin, two great grandchildren and two special furry children Missy and Monte.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 beginning at 2:00 pm at Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.
