Virginia Louise Wood Herget, 93, of Paragould, died on Tuesday at her residence. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a part of the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Auxiliary where she was past president and coordinator of the Critical Care Unit volunteers. She served on the Board of Directors of Paragould Country Club and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association.
She was born on March 30, 1926 to Frank and Hettie Wood in Paragould. She graduated from Paragould High School where she was Homecoming Queen and “Most Beautiful.” Her hobbies included her family, playing golf until her health would not allow it, participating in her bridge clubs, and her church circle. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Beauton Simpson and Beatrice Craver.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Alfred Herget of the home; daughters, Janet (Ben) Hyneman, of Jonesboro, Susan (George) Smith, of Oxford, Mississippi, and Sarah Franke of Bentonville; sisters, Martha Morgan and Mary Brinton; and sister-in-law, Ann Kelly.
Grandchildren, Brian (Ginger) Hyneman, Matt (Mary) Hyneman, Lindsey (Landon) Myers, Ginny (Tim) Kelly, Ryan Smith, Jackson Franke, Kathryn Franke; great grandchildren, Josh, Alex and Taylor Hyneman, Hannah, Ben and Grace Hyneman, Keller and Cannon Myers, and Jack and Cannon Kelly; and many nieces and nephews; also, a special thanks to our wonderful caregivers.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Fleming officiating. There will be a private family burial.
