Virginia Lavan (Biggs) Hammond, 89, of Paragould, passed Monday, August 3, 2020. Virginia was born in Greene County, Arkansas on August 24, 1930 to the late James Berl Biggs and Vera McClain Biggs. She retired from Earl Kirk Construction Company and was very involved in the BPW and the community. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Truman Harrison Freeman, Jr.; brother, James Perry Biggs; and sister-in-law, Virginia (DeVall) Biggs.
Survivors include her husband, Billy E. Hammond of the home; daughter, Dana Lavan (Jerry) Jernigan of Paragould; grandson, Steven Earl (Caroline) Guitar of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Sara Lavan (Craig) McCarter of Phoenix, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Freeman Guitar, William Baldwin Guitar, Anne Hunter Harrison Guitar, Adalida Lavan McCarter; two step-daughters, Cara (Brooks) Witherspoon of Alma, Arkansas and Amy (Trent) Landreth of McKinney, Texas; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Noah) Graeme, Breanne Witherspoon, and husband Scott Gregory and Hampton Landreth; nephew, Gary (Beverly) Biggs; and several other loving relatives.
A private graveside service will be held under the direction of Heath Funeral Home. Mary Francis Welch and Chris Kjorlaug will be officiating. To leave a lasting memorial, please consider The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.
