Vernon Eugene Reece, 91, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning. Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was most known for his beautiful gardens and flowers he planted each year. He was retired from the Highway Department, was a veteran in the military, and of the Protestant faith. Vernon was a wonderful husband to all of his wives and was a great father to his children. He was proceeded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Verna Reece, second wife, Carline Turner, and third wife, Nellie Reece; and daughters, Treva Reece and Shelby Treadway.
He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Reece, of the home; daughter, Sue Anucauskas, of Rockford, Illinois; sons, Roger and Vernon Lee Reece, both of Rockford, Illinois; children of Carline Turner, Sharron McCamey, of Brookland, Jim, Turner, John Turner, Joe Turner, all of Jonesboro; sister, Jimmie Lou Lyles; and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service will start at 2:00 pm with Rev. Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will be at Pine Log Cemetery. Online tributes: www.heathfuneralhome.come
