Tommy Allen Bass

Tommy Allen Bass, 68, Paragould, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Monette Manor after a long battle with a neurodegenerative disorder. He was born April 23, 1943 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was raised in a military family and moved frequently with his family settling in Kansas City, KS where he graduated High School. He worked with his father at their family owned gas station until 1968 when he enlisted in the Army. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1972 with many certifications and achievements. He worked with International Harvester/White Farm Equipment for 19 years and as a Mechanics Department Supervisor at a large car dealership in Texas. He then moved to Arkansas and worked as a prison guard for The Maximum Security Unit at Tucker, as a maintenance man at Stuttgart Memorial Hospital and then retired in 2003 as the Maintenance Supervisor from Cotton Boll Technical Institute. Tommy was known as Tom or T. A. to his friends and co-workers and as Pa by his wife. He was a fun-loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed working with his hands, the peace of fishing and hunting, good food and most of all loved his family with all his heart. He will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Arthur Bass in 1982. Survivors include his mother: Alma Sue Bass (Hoggard) of Stouchburg, PA; wife: Ada Clarene Bass (Kubicek) of the home; sister: Deborah Bass (brother-in-law: William Monaghan) of Stouchburg, PA; step-son: Gregory Dean of Cedar Hill, TX; daughter and son-in-law: Letha and Scott Higgins and grandson: Shawn Allen Higgins all of Leavenworth, KS. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Peach Orchard at Brownie Cemetery.
