Tommie Self Newberry

Mr. Tommie Self Newberry, 91, resident of Lewisburg, died on September 16, 2019 at his residence.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. Mr. Newberry will be conveyed to Heath Funeral Home in Paragould, Arkansas. The family will visit with friends on Friday, September 20th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00 AM at Mount Zion Cemetery in Walcott, Arkansas.

Born on August 7, 1928 in Stanford, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Charles F. Newberry and the late Lucy T. Newberry. He served in the US Army from 1951-1972, and completed combat tours in Korea and Vietnam.

Survivors include his five sons, Cecil B. (Julia) Newberry of Guntersville, AL, Tommie Edward (Carla) Newberry of Madison, AL, Robert Allen (Sandra) Newberry of Lewisburg, TN, Richard Earl (Paula) Newberry of Walcott, AR, Roger Charles Newberry of Paragould, AR; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Newberry is preceded in death by his wife, Peggie Ann Plott Newberry; daughter, Patricia Ann Newberry; siblings, Bernice Williams, Wallace Newberry, Woodrow Newberry, Nola Allison, Pearl Hamilton, Bill Newberry, Charles F. Newberry, Jr.
