Thomas C. Marlar, 76, of Paragould, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Tommy was born September 4, 1935 in Jonesboro, AR. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mary Estelle and Alford Morris, father, Thomas P. Marlar, grandchildren, Joshua Myles, Lisa Steele, Gage Haynes, sister, Joann Tatum, and nephew, Forrest Tatum. Tommy was the owner and operator of Ballard's Flowers,Inc., was a member of First Baptist Church, Rotary Club of Paragould in which he served as a board director, secretary-treasurer, and Rotary representative at Greene Acres Nursing Home since 1992, Paragould Planning Commission, Marmaduke Western Club, Happy Trails Riding Club, and several floral associations. He is survived by his wife; Opal Marlar, of the home; children and their spouses: Greg and Marilyn Marlar of Paragould, Tarry and Michelle Marlar of Fort Smith, Tauny and Danny Emery of Moscow, TN, Britt and Teresa Lyles of Paragould; childhood best friend: Guy Clark; grandchildren: Kristi Henry, Hannah Hoyer, Mark Myles, Mischa Marlar, Blake Marlar, Kelsey Marlar, Ashley Carter, Natalie Emery, Joshua Emery, Candice Waldrum and Katie Lyles and 10 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Sunday, until service time at Heath Colonial Chapel at 1:30 PM, Sunday, with Reverend Winfred Bridges officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Mayor Mike Gaskill, Gary Priest, Richard Brengard, Butch Heath, Dennis Cooper, Guy Clark.
