Terry Waits

Terry Michael Waits, 74, of Paragould, passed from this life on Thursday, May 5, 2022. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on August 13, 1947, to the late Mason and Irene Martin Waits. Terry graduated from Viola High School in 1965. He earned both his BSA in Agriculture and MSE from Arkansas State University. Terry married the love of his life, Rona Campbell, on January 24, 1970. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was an Ag teacher for over 40 years, spending most of those years at Greene County Tech. One of his favorite past times was watching "rasslin". Almost any night of the week, Terry could find a wrestling match on TV. He also enjoyed reading. In his spare time, Terry loved to sing. For years, he sang in the chancel choir at the First United Methodist Church in Paragould where he was also a member. He was also in numerous musicals with the Greene County Fine Arts Council. He was known to have an unforgettable voice that blessed all who heard him. Terry also had an ever-growing love for his wife, daughters, and granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his niece, Susan Waits.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rona Waits; daughters, Amanda (Allister) Annear and Sarah Waits, both of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Ella Mason Annear; brother, Lyndal (Shirley) Waits of Batesville; sisters-in-law, Candace Wells of Paragould and Debbie Uthoff of Brookland; brother-in-law, Duane Campbell of Paragould; nephew, Jason Waits of Long Beach, CA; niece, Teresa (Tom) Hazelwood of Brookland; and several great nieces and nephews.

To fulfill Terry's wishes, the family has requested a private family-only service and burial. Honorary pallbearers are members of the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, or the Greene County Tech Agriculture Department.
