Richard Lee Coats

Richard "Dick" Coats, 79, of Paragould, passed away on Wednesday in Jonesboro. He was born in West Plains, Missouri on October 4, 1937, to the late Lewis, Sr. and Marjorie Coats. He spent his childhood in West Plains. Dick married the love of his life, Wanda Harris, on April 17, 1960. They relocated to Mountain Home where they spent a majority of their married life. He spent his career repairing office machines. Once retired, Dick and Wanda moved to Paragould to be close to their grandson. He became very active in the Disabled Veterans of America (DVA). He was also president of the board of Stuart Union Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and traveling in his RV. Mr. Coats was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Coats; brothers, Lewis, Jr. and Roy Coats; and sister, Pat Brewer.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wanda Coats; son, Ricky Lee Coats; daughter, Tammy Lynn Thompson Coats; grandson, Garrett Thompson; brothers, Jim and Bob Coats; and sisters, Marge Curtis and Sue Taylor.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
