Richard Arthur Mcevoy

December 15, 1939 — February 1, 2024

Richard Arthur McEvoy passed from this life on February 1, 2024. Born on December 15, 1939, in the picturesque town of North Platte, Nebraska, Richard led a life full of passion and adventure.

Richard had a deep connection with the skies. He became a towboat engineer, traversing the rivers and oceans with his unwavering dedication and skill. However, it was his annual sabbatical that truly allowed Richard's spirit to soar. Each year, he set aside his towboat duties to fulfill his passion for flying as a cropdusting pilot. Those who knew him best would often hear him speak about how much he loved to fly – it was a feeling of freedom that couldn't be matched.

Richard's time in the United States Coast Guard further shaped his character and sense of service. He proudly served his country and received an Honorable Discharge, embodying the Coast Guard's values of honor, respect, and commitment.

Richard is survived by his son, Kelly McEvoy; daughters, Melodie McEvoy-Danver, LeeAnn Powell, and Stacey Horn; brothers, Mike McEvoy and John McEvoy; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John McEvoy and Jenny Violet, and his brothers, Larry McEvoy and Theodore McEvoy.

Though Richard may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. May we find solace in the memories we shared and the love he bestowed upon us.

"With the wind beneath his wings, Richard soared to new heights, forever etching his name in the skies of our hearts."
