Rev. Luther Almer (Jack) Bearden

Rev. Luther Almer (Jack) Bearden of Dixie, AR was born September 8, 1916 at Boydsville, AR to Charles Luther and Addie May Wallace Bearden. He departed this life June 16, 2017, at the age of 100 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of Jonesboro.

He was saved in 1932 and became a Baptist preacher in 1942. He had pastored 29 churches in N.E. Arkansas and Missouri. He served 75 years in the ministry. He was a member of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Paragould.

He was married November 1, 1936, to Martha Geneva Bateman for almost 76 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Phillip and wife Karen Bearden, daughter, Lenda Lois Bearden, son-in-law Thurman Holt, great grandson Jacob Bearden, great granddaughter, Brittany Holt, great-great granddaughter, Belle Lawhon, brothers, Omer, Louie, Clarence, Esmer Bearden, sister, Virginia Bearden.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley (Eugene) McNatt and Brenda Holt, 10 grandchildren, Tim and Shelly McNatt, Terry and Trudy McNatt, Barry and Toni Holt, Byron and Christy Holt, Kimberly Holt, Kevin Holt, Angie and Barry Burkheart, Kristy and Chad Woods, Greg and Holly Bearden, Kenny and Joanna Bearden, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at Prospect Baptist Church of Jonesboro on Highway 351. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, AR.

Pallbearers will be Josh and Caleb McNatt, Byron and Kevin Holt, Kenny Bearden, Brandon Burkheart and Greg Bearden. Honorary Pallbearers will be great grandsons and Ministers.
Memorials may be made to Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
