Rachel Hefner

Rachel L. Hefner, 89, of Green Forest, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Feb. 13th, 2011, at the St. John’s Hospital in Berryville, Arkansas. She was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on January 11, 1922. The daughter of the late Roy S. and Lillie Ann (Shelton) Romans. Rachel was a homemaker, farmer, gardener, store owner of Romans Corner, and a member of the Church of Christ. She attended services in Harrison, Arkansas where she had many friends. She loved playing games especially Yahtzee. Reading and going out to eat with family and friends, were her favorite past times. She is survived by step children, Robert (Bob) and wife, Wanda Hefner, Gary and wife, Sandy Hefner, Stan Hefner, and Patricia Lawson; nephews, Steve and wife, Kathy Boren, of Green Forest; Vince Boren of Lebanon, Missouri; Terry and wife, Joan Romans of Ash Flat, Arkansas; nieces, Tina Bode, of Camano Island, WA ;Tonya and husband, Jim Salmans of Burlington, Colorado; also many step-grandchildren and great-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Paris Neal whom she married in 1942 in Light, Arkansas and Robert Hefner whom she married in 1982 in Light, Arkansas, step-son, Donnie Hefner, sister ,Vicki Jo Treadway, brother Wendell Romans, and niece Tracy Romans. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday February 16, 2011 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jimmie Smith of the Church of Christ in Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Herndon Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Steve Boren, Cody Boren, Brock Boren, and Vince Boren with honorary pallbearer Terry Romans.
