Patricia Ann Akes

Patricia Ann Akes, 78, of Paragould, passed from this life on Thursday, May 11, 2023. She was born in Lake City on November 29, 1944, to the late Humphrey "Freddy" Edgar and the late Doris Davis Massingale. Pat worked at Dixie Cleaners for nearly 20 years. She loved to watch birds and go fishing. Pat enjoyed her occasional trips to the casino, and she always had good luck with lottery scratch-offs. She was preceded in death by her dad, Freddy Edgar; mom and step-dad, Doris and Bobby Massingale; husband, Billy Akes; sisters, Bernice Armstrong, Donna Treat, Kathy Grimes, and Carolyn Cooper; and brother, Jerry Edgar.

Pat is survived by her children, Joseph "Joe" (Shellie) Mullen of Lafe, Tricia (Tony) Gargus of Paragould, Jamie (Charlie) Cooper of Paragould, Tom (Melynda) Mullen of Spokane, Washington, and Bobbie (Carl) Morgan of Paragould; sisters, Barbara (John) Mattix of Bono and Lisa Moore of Paragould; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Dusty.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 15, 2023, from 10-11 AM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral begins at 11 AM with Revs. Kevin Edgar and Jody Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ryan Rangel, Donavon Rangel, James Morgan, Troy Gargus, Dakota Gargus, C.J. Cooper, James Wiggins, and Brayden Dinkins. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Cooper and Levi Condray.
