Nellie Faye Brewington, 82, of Brookland, passed from this life peacefully on December 17, 2024, with her family by her side. Born on February 4, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, Nellie dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker, a role she cherished deeply. She married Billy Brewington on July 5, 1973, and they shared a life filled with love until his passing in 2008. Nellie also had a love for dogs, and she adored all of her fur babies over the years.
Nellie is survived by her adoring children, William Brewington of Oklahoma City, Mike (Janie) Brewington of Columbus, Indiana, Dee (David) Currie of Columbia, Tennessee, Bobby Carmikle of West Memphis, Jerry (Didi) Carmikle of Columbia, South Carolina, Scott (Lorrie) Brewington of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Tim (Janet) Brewington of Brookland; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Her warm spirit and nurturing presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Zelma Cone; husband, Billy Brewington; daughter, Patricia Beith; granddaughter, Kaylynn Carmikle; and brother, Gene Cone.
A woman of many talents, Nellie had a passion for sewing and upholstering furniture, oftentimes transforming ordinary pieces into extraordinary treasures. She was also known for her exquisite crocheting skills, creating beautiful blankets that warmed both the body and heart. Nellie had a fondness for fishing, relishing the tranquility it brought her, and she spent many enjoyable afternoons thrifting through flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden gems.
Her love for family was evident in every gathering, where she would make a production out of each occasion. Her favorite dish, fruit salad, was always plentiful as she delighted in the company of those she held dear. Nellie was well-known for her joyous cooking and bringing friends and family together around her table for memorable dinners filled with laughter and love.
As a strong Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Paragould, Nellie took great joy in attending services and assisting with Vacation Bible School each year. Her faith guided her throughout her life, influencing her compassionate nature and dedication to helping others. Additionally, Nellie's volunteer work as a Pink Lady at AMMC showcased her generous spirit and commitment to serving her community.
A lover of conversation, she cherished lengthy phone calls with friends and family, always eager to share in the latest news around town. It is this warm, inviting presence that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Nellie Faye Brewington leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family and faith that will continue to inspire all who carry her memory in their hearts.
