Melvin Ray Morris, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Jonesboro. Born on April 19, 1947, to the late Cecil and Lorene Morris of Paragould, Ray was a lifelong adventurer and entrepreneur. Throughout his life, he embraced his passion for motorcycles, boating, and RV exploration with his wife Belinda, embarking on unforgettable journeys across the country.
Ray's early talent for electrical work led him to a successful career as a self-employed electrician. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he founded multiple businesses and even owned a Limousine service. His dedication to service extended beyond the business realm, as he was one of the first members of the Greene County Rescue Squad and a Veteran of the US Air Force. Though he was disabled as a result of his service, he didn't let it prevent him from living an adventurous life.
Having resided in Charleston, SC for many years, Ray created cherished memories and lasting connections wherever he went. His zest for life and love for adventure led him to transport The Eagles with his Limousine service, an experience that earned him a special backstage pass to their concert.
Ray is survived by his loving spouse Belinda Morris, devoted son Michael Morris, cherished grandchild Emma Morris, supportive brother James Cole, and caring sisters Anita Morris and Theresa Morris. Each of Ray's relationships were a testament to his kind and generous nature. His spirit of adventure and entrepreneurship will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Ray's life will be held at Heath Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, at 1 PM to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on those around him.
