Meldrum Dewayne "Chief" Faughn, 76, of Paragould, passed away Monday at his residence. He was retired from Ryder Truck Rental in St. Louis. He served as a medic in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. In his younger years, Chief enjoyed remodeling cars. He was also an avid billiard player. Chief was the son of the late Melvin and Nina Fae Faughn. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Nathan Faughn.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Betty Sue Faughn; daughters, Debra (Chad) Faughn-Brauss of St. Louis and Donna Sanchez of Paragould; son, Jimmy Hatcher of Paragould; grandchildren, Jordan, Faith, and Madison Franey, Cody Hatcher, Jessica Sanchez-Rodriguez, Gregory Sanchez, and Jeremy Simpson; great grandchildren, Cayne and Chevelle Simpson and Xavier Rodriguez; brothers, Donald (Carolyn) Faughn, Randal (Susan) Faughn, and Allen Ray (Dianna) Faughn; sisters, Evelyn Gibson, Vaudeen Robertson, and Eulinda Bickford; sister-in-law, Dorothy Faughn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Heath Funeral Home. A graveside funeral will begin Thursday at 10 am at Pine Knot Cemetery.
