Mary Mae Morgan went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Mary was born 92 years ago in Paragould to the late Sam and Alberta (Mangrum) Benton. She was a 1949 graduate of Greene County Tech High School. She attended Southern Baptist College where she met her future husband, Kenneth. They joined in holy matrimony on November 5, 1950. Mary went to work for Emerson Electric Motor Division, and she remained there for over 38 years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Paragould where she and her late husband served in a number of ministries.
Mary will be remembered for her excellent homemade bread which she shared freely with her friends and family and for the beautiful gardens she cultivated and tended at her home. There was always fresh bread and lovely flowers at Mary's house. Mary was also gifted in sewing. She enjoyed quilting and cross stitching.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Kenneth Morgan; daughter and best friend, Susan Arnhart; sister, Frances Green; brother, Don Benton; half-sister, Brenda Frasier; half-brother, Jimmie Benton; step-sisters, Helen McClarty and Sharron Holt; and her beloved grandparents who raised her after her mother's death, William and Lillie Mae (Crafton) Benton.
Mary is survived by her son, Phillip (Juli) Morgan; daughter, Kay Crisp; grandchildren, Sonya (Wayne) Hawkesworth, Kathy (Chris) Faulkner, Pete Darr, Chris (Christy) Morgan, Laurel (Sean) Gearson, and Chelle Morgan; great-grandchildren, Morgan James, Buddy Pearce, Cody Pearce, Abigail Pearce, Taylor Morgan, Allie Morgan, Gunner (Erin) Faulkner, Hayden (Sheri) Faulkner, Cade Faulkner, Mackenzie Gearson, and Peyton Gearson; and great-great-grandchildren, Brenden, Mason, EmmaLeigh, Ensley, Colin, Benjamin, Remington, Aleaha, and Miley.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 11 AM until 12 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral begins at 12 PM with Rev. Ardell Polk and Dr. Tony Cherry officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Gunner, Hayden, and Cade Faulkner, Taylor Morgan, Sean Gearson, and Jeff Cupples. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Morgan, Chris Faulkner, Peyton Gearson, Rodney Combs, and Pete Darr. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to First Baptist Church in Paragould.
