Martha Brandon, a beloved resident of Paragould, passed away at her son’s residence in Fayetteville, AR on May 16,2009. She was born in Wartrace, Tenn. on July 18, 1923 to Edd and Frances West. At her passing she was surrounded by her loving family. A special note of thanks to Nancy Andreason, Edd’s fiancée for her loving care to our beloved mother . Martha was preceded in death by her dear husband of fifty-two years, Morton in 1997. They enjoyed their retirement years traveling with the Senior Bees. Martha is survived by her two sons of Fayetteville, Jim and his wife Crystal, and Edd. Two grandsons, Land and Christopher,and one sister,Barbara Terrell of Batesville,including several nieces and nephews. A dedicated Methodist all of her life, Martha more than once recited the scripture,” Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Martha never met a stranger. Her friendly personality and engaging smile was well known throughout the community. Martha belonged to many organizations such as the Eastern Star,and was the United Methodist Women’s treasurer of the North East chapter for thirty five years. She was also a member of the Glenna Rose Circle. She enjoyed the championship of her dear friends whether it was exercising weekly at the community center, Red Hat Society, Widows Support Group, and volunteer work at her beloved church. Mr. and Mrs. Brandon operated the One Hour Cleaners for many years. After the sale of the business , Martha became the administrative secretary at Arkansas Methodist Hospital until her retirement. Celebration of her life will be at the First United Methodist Church on May 18, 2009.at 3:00. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Shelbyville, TN at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, a School of Missions Memorial fund has been established in her honor. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
