Louie Huston Holland Jr. was born on February 14th, 1935 in Light, Arkansas, to Louie Holland Sr. and Jessie (Cannady) Holland. He attended Paragould High School. He served in the Navy and the Army, serving with the 21st Infantry Regiment of the 24th Infantry Division and a Korean War Veteran. After returning from service, he met the love of his life, Gay (Holifield) Holland. They were married on June 28th, 1958. He worked as a fire fighter, while he went to Cotton Boll Vo-Tech to receive his tool and die certification. He retired from LA Darling in Paragould in 1997. He then trained to be an over the road truck driver, and for 12 years he crisscrossed the nation delivering shipments, and then drove a grain truck for a local farmer. He reluctantly retired for good at the age of 80. He was a Christian and a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church. Louie was a Master Mason, a Past Worshipful Master of Paragould Lodge #368 of Free and Accepted Masons. A R.W. Deputy District Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Arkansas. Louie loved his family and worked hard to provide for them most of his life. He brought joy to everyone he met. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Louie was always willing to help anyone in need. His love for God shined through his bright smile and piercing blue eyes.
Louie is preceded in death by his parents. Two sisters, Loretta Boozer and Lois Pezdirtz and three brothers, Raymond, Larry Ray, and Charles “Chuck”. Sister in law Pat Buchanan and Brother in law Leland “Buzz”Boozer. He is survived by his loving wife, Gay (Holifield) Holland, of the home, and his 5 children Lena and Keith Wolf of Omaha, AR, Judy and Jeff Harmon of Lafe, AR, Belinda “Suzy” and Larry Joe Boak of Knobel, James and Teresa Holland of Bono, AR, and Eric and Brenna Holland of Alexander, AR. 7 grandchildren Andrea and Scott Morrison of Omaha, AR, Amy and Nathan Brumley of Omaha, AR, Alisha Boak of Corning, AR, Nathan Boak of Oak Grove, AR, Andrew Holland of Jonesboro, AR, Griffin Holland of Alexander, AR and Sean Holland of Bono, AR. 4 great grandsons Logan and Aidan Brumley, Gabriel and Noah Morrison all of Omaha, AR. His brothers Larry and Maggie Dooley of Florence, MO, Randall and Kay Holland of Marmaduke, AR, Glenn and Teressa Holland of Paragould, AR, Jimmy and Sherry Holland of Paragould, AR, and one sister Debbie Dubar of Fort Smith, AR. Sister in laws Martha Holland of Grapevine, TX and Shirley Holland of Paragould, AR. A host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM.at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Flo & Philo Jones Hospice House, Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church or the Wounded Warriors Project.
