Lorene “Cricket†Ward, 84, formerly of Lafe, passed away December 19, 2010, at the Garden View Care Center in O’Fallon, Missouri. Cricket was born July 11, 1926, the daughter of Osmer and Haydee White. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Monte Kay and Larian Johnson, of Lake St. Louis, MO, one grandson Darin (Denise) Johnson and one step-great grandson, Sam Carver of Wentzville, MO; three sisters: Lillie Gibson, Marvell (Junior) Strope, and Liz (Glenn) Howard, all of Paragould and one brother, George (Juanita) White of Glasgow, KY. Preceding her in death were her parents: Osmer and Haydee White, her husband, Wallace Ward, 3 sisters: Lula Wood, Lela and Lola White, 3 brothers: Homer, Leonard and Lewis White. She was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church and was retired from the Ely & Walker Shirt Factory. She and her husband, Wallace, also managed the Lafe Cotton Gin for several years. The family will receive friends at Heath Funeral Home, Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. The celebration of her life will be at Heath Colonial Chapel, Wednesday, at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Dennis Strope officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
