Loree Ivern Perkey

Loree‘ Ivern Perkey, 90, of Paragould, passed from this life Saturday at Belle Meade Green House Cottages with her family by her side. Loree‘ was the co-owner of Don Perkey’s Shoes and a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ. Loree‘ was a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ since 1958 and a member of the Paragould Business and Professional Women since 1968. Loree‘ was born in Evening Star and went to school in Delaplaine. She moved to Little Rock after graduation and attended business college as well as graduating from Harding College in Searcy. She met and married the love of her life in Little Rock. She and Don lived in Little Rock, Charleston, Jonesboro and moved to Paragould in 1957 to open a new business, Sample Shoe Store. The business flourished and later became Don Perkey’s Shoes. They retired in 2010 and enjoyed attending church, traveling, golfing, fishing, and watching their grandchildren become successful adults. Loree‘ especially enjoyed traveling and shopping with her Paragould friends and loved the many trips they made to New York. She was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother and loved to spend time with them. Her grandchildren considered her the ultimate grandmother and best friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Perkey and her parents Othar and Oletta Campbell. Survivors include daughters, Donna (Ralph) Asher of Dry Ridge KY and Patti (Don) Ernst of Little Rock; grandchildren, Douglas (Megan) Helvering, Daniel Helvering, Kristin (Kyle) Jackson, Katie Ernst and Jonathan Ernst; a great grandchild Kallie Jackson; special granddaughter Devon Leinberger and great grandson Alijah “JC” White. She also leaves a wonderful host of cousins and dear family friends.

She was blessed to reside at Chateau on the Ridge for 5 years and loved every resident as well of her many caregivers. Her last 2 years were spent at Belle Meade Green House Cottages. The family wishes to express gratitude for the love and care shown to Loree‘ from her nurses at Chateau and Vassar House. A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ and the Children’s Home of Paragould.
