Lonie Owens

May 29, 1928 — February 8, 2025

Lonie Lee Owens, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life on February 8, 2025, at the age of 96. Lonie was born on May 29, 1928, in Paragould, Arkansas, where she spent her life cherishing her family and nurturing them with love.

A devoted homemaker, Lonie found immense joy in caring for her children and grandchildren. She believed in the power of family and often echoed that the more, the merrier. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, where she shared her incredible culinary talents, particularly her renowned chicken and dumplings, which will be sorely missed. An active member of River of Life Church, Lonie had a passion for reading her Bible, finding solace and strength in its pages. Her creativity flourished through sewing and crocheting, hobbies that she cherished and shared with her loved ones.

Lonie is survived by her devoted children: Wilson S. Owens, Pansy (Dan) Brewer, Patsy Evans, Connie Newberry, Virginia Wince, Laura (David) Bonds, and Paul Owens. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Ozella Harris, Leo Medsker, and Major Medsker, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Lonie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson T. Owens; her parents, Admiral Medsker and Nova Fay Medsker; her son Carl Owens; her grandchildren, Randall Hyde and Marty Brewer; and her brothers: Berley Medsker, Arvil Medsker, Lester Medsker, and Robert Medsker.
