Lois Jean Newman, 83, of Paragould passed away Monday morning at Green Acres Nursing Home. She was born in Cherry Valley and was retired from Emerson Electric after 20 years and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Edna Fore Cooksey and was preceded in death by her husband, George Newman. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church on Fairview Rd. She was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Newman; sisters, Dorothy Hampton, Beulah Wikowsky, Betty Wigginton, Pat Cooksey, Margaret Wetzel, Shirley Wilson; brothers, Oris Cooksey, Richard Cooksey, and Lawrence Cooksey.
She is survived by daughter, Rita (David) Goebel of Oak Grove, AR.; sons, Robert (Kay) Newman of Paragould, James (Colleen) Newman of Paragould; sister, Janetta (Mike) Elkins of Walnut Ridge; brother, Jimmy (Kim) Cooksey of Batesville; five grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 AM at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Carl Friedel officiating. Burial will follow at Hosea Cemetery in Knobel. Pallbearers will be Rodney Newman, Bob Newman, C. J. Klinginsmith, Heath Rhodes, Wayne La Roe, Frank Casey, and Trevor Newman.
