Leona Marie Holcomb

Leona Marie Holcomb, 86, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at The Woods of Monticello in Monticello. She was born February 4, 1924 in Greene County, a daughter of Roy Hooker and Gertie Hooker Dowler. Among family and friends preceding her in death was her husband of 60 years, James Holcomb, and a beloved grandson, Shane Holcomb. Survivors include her children, Eddie and Judith Holcomb of White Hall, Jim and Kathy Holcomb and John and Janet Holcomb of Jonesboro, Ted and Dawn McMurry of Michigan, Karen and Van Brown of Monticello, Joanne and Walter Smith of Michigan, Paulette Holcomb of Washington; one sister, Dorothy Barber of Michigan; two brothers, Galen Dowler of Michigan and Gordon Dowler of Paragould; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; Charles and Gretta Holcomb, Bonnie Thornton and a host of friends. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Reverend Charles Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday for family and friends.
