Larry Wayne Turman

Larry Wayne Turman, a beloved husband, father, and devoted soldier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 10, 1942, at his home in Lafe, Larry was a proud native of his hometown, where he graduated from Lafe High School in 1960.

In December of the same year, Larry married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" Matney. Together, they built a life steeped in love and devotion. Larry served with distinction in the United States Army for 23 years, including two tours in Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his legacy of service will be remembered by all who knew him.

A faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Larry found joy and purpose in his faith and community. In addition to his military service, he was an avid outdoorsman who cherished the time spent hunting and fishing. He had a special fondness for dogs, all of whom he lovingly rescued, reflecting his compassionate heart.

Larry is survived by his beloved bride, Pat Turman; cherished son, Fredrick "Fred" (Joyce) Turman; adoring grandchildren, Sarah and Graeme Turman; brother, Joseph Turman; sisters, Alice Cannon, Ann Willis, and Linda Howard; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. His loss will be deeply felt by family and friends alike. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Heck and Flora Turman; brothers, Terry Don Turman, Butch Turman, Ray Leon Turman, and Arthur Lee Turman; and sister, Iva Mae Hunt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lafe. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM with Pastor Aaron Neugebauer officiating, concluding with burial with military honors at St. John's Cemetery.

As we gather to celebrate Larry's extraordinary life, let us remember a man whose courage, kindness, and love left an indelible mark on all of us. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
