Larry Joseph Kersey

May 14, 1971 — June 8, 2022

Larry Joseph Kersey passed from this life on June 8, 2022. He was born on May 14, 1971, to Jerry and Shirley Kersey. Larry graduated from Marmaduke High School in 1989 and later received an associate's degree in maintenance at Black River Technical College. He worked at Emerson, Garlock, and Prestolite. Larry spent the last nine years as a correctional officer at the McPherson Unit in Newport. He loved canoeing and fishing on the Spring River and spending time with family at the lake. He also loved riding his horse named Charmer. Larry did everything to the best of his ability; even when playing horseshoes and dominoes. Larry loved Jesus. He spent time telling others about his Lord, and he gave witness of the grace of God in his life. Larry loved his family. He prayed fervently for the salvation of family and friends. He said, "When you're saved you know it. There will be no doubt." While there are numerous ways to describe the man he was, it all came down to one thing: Larry loved.

Larry is survived by his wife, Roshel Kersey of the home; stepdaughters, Aaliyah and Iyanla; parents, Jerry and Shirley Kersey; brother, Jerry Lee (Kimberly) Kersey; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles that he loved with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cleat and Loetta Kersey; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Verna Shreeves; niece, Cadyne Kersey; cousin, Ray Shreeves; uncles, Fred Shreeves and Rick Shreeves; and aunt, Midge Goad.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday at 10:30am at Heath Funeral Home with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ed, Bob, Aaron, and Jake Shreeves, Clifton Carter, Stanley Kersey, and Eric Gardner. Honorary pallbearer is Bill Shreeves. To honor Larry, please consider a memorial to the Children's Homes, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450.
