Joy Ann Powers, 77, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She is the daughter of the late Robert Earl Gramling and Mabel Roberta Gregory Gramling. The name "Joy" suited her well because she truly was a joy to everyone who knew her. Joy was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church. She retired after forty years of working as a bookkeeper for the Stanford and Paragould School Districts. Joy adored her grandchildren, was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles and college basketball. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Glen Earl Gramling and Jerry Gramling; and one nephew, Matthew Rowland.
Survivors include her sister, Judy (Donnie) Rowland of Paragould; two sons, Steve (Vicki) Powers and Chris (Pam) Powers, both of Paragould; one daughter, Liz Midgett of Paragould; eight grandchildren, D.J. (Leah) Shipman of Paragould, Kristin Powers of Paragould, Lauren Romero of Denver, Colorado, Steven Powers of Paragould, Blake Powers of Denver, Colorado, Mackenzie (Nate) Sellers of Covington, Tennessee, Jackson Powers of Paragould and Karlee Midgett of Paragould; five great-grandchildren, Makynna, Carson, Layne, Zoey and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-3 pm at the Shiloh Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. with Bros. Larry Hughes and Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Shiloh Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
