Mr. John Robert Dawson, 90, of Paragould, died Monday, February 20, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born July 31, 1921, the son of the late Green and Bell Dawson in Sharp County, near Hardy. He was also preceded in death by his dear wife, Dortha Lee South Dawson, brothers, Henderson, Bryan, Luther, Herbert, and Mitchel Dawson, sisters, Willie Whitsel, Letha Huckabee, Luna King, Euna Meddress, and Lela Henry. Mr. John farmed most of his life until July, 1942 when he was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps Air Transport Command and spent 3 1/2 years in the service. He retired from L. A. Darling Store Fixtures after almost 20 years. Mr. John loved to grow beautiful flowers, loved good music, especially Big Band Music. He said, "Saturday night never passed without watching the Lawrence Welk Show." Mr. John was a devout Christian who truly loved the Lord. He sang in the choir and loved to sing solos. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Terena and Doyle McDaniel; granddaughter: Amber Faith McDaniel, all of Paragould and several nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, 10:00 AM, Thursday, with Reverend Clyde Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
