John Jones

John Melvin Jones, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on May 28, 1967, in Paragould, Arkansas, John was a lifelong resident of Lafe, Arkansas, where he dedicated much of his time and talents to his family and community.


John proudly graduated from Marmaduke High School in 1986, after which he devoted himself to a career in maintenance at Frito Lay. He was known for his unwavering work ethic and his commitment to excellence in all he undertook. John's spirit will continue to shine through the lives of those he touched.


A member of Providence Baptist Church, John was a man of faith who found solace and strength within his community. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones and was a source of laughter and warmth in their lives.


An avid reader, John had a particular affinity for western novels, enjoying the works of Louis L'Amour. In addition to his passion for literature, he found joy in fishing and would often embark on long drives to enjoy the beauty of nature, explore new sights, and share precious moments with friends.


John leaves behind his loving wife, Mandy Witcher, and their son, Zebadiah Witcher-Jones. He is also survived by his sisters, Mandy (Jerry) Roush and Bertha (Dean) Ivy; his mother-in-law, Janette Witcher; sisters-in-law, Sandra Brothers and Iva Jones; his close friends Scott Crosno and Chesley Isom, and numerous nieces and nephews.


John was preceded in death by his father Melvin Jones; mother Velma Jones; sisters Nevida Henley, Gail Gilkison, Linda Jones; and brothers Jimmy Jones, H.C. Brothers, and Robert Jones.


Visitation will occur at Heath Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 6:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate the life of John.


John Melvin Jones will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with those around him. He will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
