John Edward Haffey

John Edward Haffey, 88 of Paragould, died on January 17, 2016, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. John was retired from Riggs Wholesale and was a greeter at Wal-Mart.

John was the 2nd child of Viola (Stock) and Francis Haffey's ten children. Born and lovingly raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agnes and siblings, Patricia, Mary, Eileen, Loretta and Helen. He is survived by Anne, Francis, Catherine and James. He is also fondly remembered by his 32 nieces and nephews and 58 grandnieces and nephews residing in Canada.

After graduating from St. Jerome's College in Kitchener, ON, John's faith journey led him to New York City and the Blessed Sacrament Brothers wherein he discerned his vocation lay elsewhere. It was there that he met the love of his life, Agnes. Their life journey say them resettle in their beloved Paragould, Arkansas. Growing up, John's love of music (violin) and close attention to the family’s rose gardens expressed his gentle and caring nature. He was the role model that all sisters and brothers should have.
John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paragould since 1960. He spread the word of God through Kairos Prison Ministry for many years. John was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

We will miss him.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Mike Sinkler officiating.
