Jimmy Ray Powers, 87, of Paragould, passed away Saturday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was the son of the late Lum T. and Martha Stephens Powers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver. He was a faithful member of Peace Tabernacle Apostolic Church, and he had a passion for music, especially playing the steel guitar. He is also preceded in death by his son, Bryan Powers; two sisters Eloise Austin and Betty Green; and three brothers, Pete Powers, Joe Powers, and Lum T. Powers, Jr.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Powers, of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Judy Corbin, of South Carolina, and Sue Griggs, of Andlusia, Alabama; two grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Powers, of Sherwood.
A celebration of life memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorials can be made to cover costs of funeral expenses.
