Jimmy Eli Smith, 71, of Paragould, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at his home. Jimmy was born in Caraway, Arkansas, August 17, 1940. Jimmy was a member and past president of the Exchange Club of Paragould, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paragould, past scout master for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 500, and a retired painting contractor. Survivors include his beloved wife: Teresa Mae (Bibb) Smith, of the home; children: Sheila (Smith) and Ken Swain of Arlington, Tennessee; James Eli and Laurie (Chance) Smith of Azle, Texas; Steven Roy Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; Jennifer (Smith) and Joe Schreit of Paragould; granddaughters: Jessica (Jessie) Elizabeth Swain of Arlington, Tennessee; Joanna Elizabeth Schreit, Margaret (Maggie) Myrick Schreit and Lena Carolina Schreit, all of Paragould; grandsons: twins, Luke Bailey Smith, Joshua Earvy Smith of Azle, Texas; and Eli Frank Schreit, of Paragould; step-sister: Charlene Haney Ford; sister-in-law: Pat (Smith) Ratton both of Paragould; brother-in-law: R. C. Johnson of New Hartford, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, James Eli Smith, mother and stepfather, Roy and Lena Gertrude Holland Haney, brothers, James Paul Smith, Carter Montel Smith, Rufus LeeDell Smith, sisters, Alta Fern (Smith) Johnson, Charlotte Lugene (Smith) Bredensteiner and step sister, Viola Haney Wadley. A public rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel with visitation following from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Friday, also at the chapel His life will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10:00 AM, Saturday with Father Mike Sinkler and Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers are Howard Smith, Tom Johnson, Tim Johnson, Keith Medsker, Larry Beliew, Dillman Cupp, Harold Hutcheson and Joe Zollner.
