Jerry Wayne "J.W." Yates, 78, of Paragould, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born October 19, 1931, in Beech Grove, Arkansas, the son of the late Oral and Paola Stallcup Yates. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Bowers. Jerry was a retired supervisor from Emerson Electric Company, loved farming, and was a member of Campground United Methodist Church. Jerry served his country during the Korean Conflict. He later was in the Army National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and retired from the Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Cathryn Yates of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Charles Dachs and Dave and Lynn Tierney, all of Paragould; son, Phillip and Robin Yates of Paragould; son-in-law: Richard Bowers of Lafe; sisters, Lenore Bunting of Georgia and Nola Mae Ussery of Paragould; and grandchildren, Erica and Alan Wheeler, Stacy Tierney, Madison Yates, Cori and Chase Hinkle, Codi Dachs, Caleb Yates, and Catey Bowers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, 10:00 AM, Thursday, with Reverend Eddie Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Gainesville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Bowers, Caleb Yates, Chase Hinkle, Kasey Crisman, Alan Wheeler, and Mark Meadows. Honorary pallbearers are Chick Dehart, Bill Tabor, Leland Stanfill, Robert West, Jerry Lenderman, and Glenn Howard.
