Jeremiah ‘’Jerry’’ Hayes, 74, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 in Jonesboro. Jerry was born in Lafe, Arkansas on September 29, 1946 to Norman Hirkele ‘’Bill’’ Hayes and Goldie Perdue Hayes. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, LaVaughn Hayes and Jacob Hayes. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, worked for Emerson Electric for twenty years, and recently retired from his position in maintenance at the Greene County Library. He established New Life Temple ministries in 1986 with his wife Carolyn, and faithfully shepherded his congregation for 34 years.
He lived out the gospel of Jesus Christ everyday in the way he loved others. He was the most dependable, selfless, and caring man. From a church member in need of prayer, to a grandchild wanting to play, he served with joy. He was best known to his family as the man who fixed everything. From broken hearts, to broken cars. His life was a life of service to others. His family was his pride and joy. His legacy is one of great faith in God, and a humble heart.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Thrasher Hayes of the home; two daughters , Faith (Tim) Reddick and Cindy (Michael) Addison both of Paragould; grandchildren, Charity (Dave) Warner of New Mexico, Laken Reddick of Paragould, Jeremy (Molly) Monreal of Paragould, Jaran (Tripp) Tipton of Jonesboro, Jaden Monreal of Paragould, Darrin Addison of Paragould and Sarah Addison of Redfield, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Millie, and Knox Warner, Adison Tipton and Zaylan Morgan; brothers, Joel (Suzanne) Hayes, Richard (Paula) Hayes, Phillip (Teresa) Hayes and Bill Hayes; sisters, Lucille (Wayne) Jackson, Becky (Bob) Byram, Gwenda (David) Tipton and Shelby O’Dell Hayes; and mother-in-law, Eva Thrasher Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Friday night from 6-8pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. David Tipton officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
In order to comply with CDC guidelines, face masks are required inside the building and friends are asked to practice social distancing.
