Jean Louise "Granny" Brittingham passed from this world on May 26, 2020, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born January 23, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri to Floyd and Laura Barnwell.
Jean worked as a homemaker, on the family farm, Ed White, Jr. Shoe Factory, at the Home for the Golden Years and for the Oak Grove (now Paragould) School District. She resided most of her life in the Gainesville area of Greene County. She was a faithful member of the Gainsville Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. Her canned and baked goods were often blue ribbon winners at the Greene County Fair. She loved making trips to Branson and other places with family and friends as well as playing bingo with seniors at McDonald's.
She was preceded in death by her husband R. C. and a daughter Shelia Pillow. She is survived by two sons John (Connie), Randall (Betty) and a daughter Brenda (Mike) Cross of Paragould. She had five grandchildren, Suzette (Topper) Killough, David Brittingham, Carol Brittingham, James (Susan) Brittingham and Tera (Jon Michael) Lee as well as thirteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren and a host of loving friends.
Visitation will be Friday at Heath Funeral Home from 10:00-12:00. A private family funeral will be held with burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Crowley's Ridge Academy. Online tributes at www.heathfuneralhome.com Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 50 people will be allowed to gather inside of the funeral home at one time, maintaining social distancing of 6-foot between one another, and face masks will be required to enter the building.
