James J. W. (Jim) Cook, Jr. was born August 30, 1920 in Malden, Missouri to James W. Cook, Sr. and Ethel Louise Cook. He departed this life on December 17, 2009. Jim was retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad, a member of Malden Methodist Church, a model railroader and a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Linda Parson of Paragould; granddaughter and husband, Krissy and Tommy Shirley of Oak Grove; grandson and wife, Casey and Heather Parson of Paragould; great granddaughter, Abigail Lynn Shirley of Oak Grove; and sister Mildred Hewitt of Malden, Missouri. Preceded in death by his parents, James W. Cook Sr. and Ethel Sims; brother, Donald Cook; and grandson, Matthew Parson. Funeral services will be held at the Heath Colonial Chapel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Larry Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Finch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jackie Copeland, Duane Wyatt, Wayne Walton, Otho Hampton, Ray Slatton, and Buford Adams.
