World War II Veteran, James H Grooms, 92, left this earth for his heavenly home on May 3, 2017. He was a Lions Club member and a past District Governor. He was a Paragould Volunteer Fireman, owner of Western Auto Store, Paragould Bulldog booster and a member of First Baptist Church of Paragould, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Ruffin Grooms.
He is survived by his daughter JoAnna (Dale) Calhoon; son Bobby (Judy) Grooms; seven grandchildren, Jim (Laura) Calhoon, Brian (Renee) Calhoon, Tiffany (Mark) Crafton, Grant (Casey) Calhoon, Shea (Jeremy) Ross, Trey (Stephanie) Grooms and Jay (Pamela) Grooms; 17 great grandchildren; sister in law, Betty Jo Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.
He served his Lord faithfully and was loved dearly by his family. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 am at Heath Funeral Home with his life celebrations service at 11 am in the chapel with Jim Calhoon officiating. Burial to follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Paragould.
