James Edwin Godfrey, 79, of Paragould, died on Thursday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. James was retired from the military having served 2 terms in the Korean War and the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Margaret Ball Godfrey, daughter, Laura Lynn Godfrey, brothers and sisters, Dickie, Shirley, Leona, Louise and Ann. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Godfrey of the home, sons, Randy Godfrey of Paragould and Danny Godfrey of West Virginia. Daughters, Rose Blagg of Paragould and Brenda Godfrey of West Virginia. Step-sons, Ronnie Huffman of Paragould, Keith Davis and Tommy Walters of Kennett, MO, step-daughters, Doris Fleeman of Salem, MO, Virginia of West Virginia, Rinthia Davis of Kennett, MO and Crystal of Canada. James is also survived by brothers, Francis and Pete Godfrey of West Virginia, Donnie Godfrey of Ashland, KY, Charles Godfrey of Michigan. Sisters June Wilson and Kate Shaffer of West Virginia and Jennie Cowel of Florida. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
