James Edward Holcomb, 87, of Monticello, Arkansas formerly of Paragould, died December 8, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was a World War II, Navy Veteran and served in the National Guard . He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Preceding him in death are his parents Joe and Olivia Holcomb of Paragould; 3 brothers: Jesse, Bill and Jerry Holcomb; and 2 sisters: Juanita Holcomb and Anna Roberson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Leona Holcomb of Monticello, 4 sons, Eddie (Judith) Holcomb of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, James (Kathy) Holcomb of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Johnny (Janet) Holcomb of Lakeland, Florida, and Ted (Dawn) McMurry of Montrose, Michigan; 3 daughters: Karen (Van) Brown of Monticello, Paulette Holcomb of Seattle, Washington, and Joanne (Walter) Smith of Roscommon, Michigan; brother, Charles (Greta) Holcomb of Lonsdale, Arkansas; sister, Bonnie Thornton of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. David Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Friday for family and friends before the service. Pallbearers: Jason, Terry, J.J., and Jamie Holcomb, Joe and Freddie Thornton . Alternate, Mike Holcomb.
