James "Jim" Aughty Barnett, 71, Paragould, peacefully went home with the Lord on Monday at his home. He was born March 17, 1944 in Bakersfield, CA to the late Aughty "Barney" and Dorothy Taber Barnett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Barnett and grandson, Kyle Barnett. Jim was truly a people person, never meeting a stranger. He enjoyed many activities with friends and family. He enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing and camping, working with horses, repairing cars with his boys and like his dad, loved working in his yard and was a gun enthusiast. He loved the open road and spent more than 50 years as a truck driver and was last employed by Wells Trucking. Jim was a very loving and caring person and was always doing whatever he could to help others. He will be remembered for his fun loving wit and generosity, as well as his mischievous smile. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Cody Barnett; grandchildren, Melissa, Kevin, Sandra and Kelsey Barnett; ex-wife, Carol Lewis Barnett; sister-in-law, Kathy Lewis Hill; sisters, Patricia (Jay) McAnally, Brenda (Steve) Ratliff; brother, Rick (Marie) Barnett; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pastor Steven Ratliff, brother-in-law, will be officiating
