Ilene Scott went to her heavenly home on June 19, 2016, in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 99. She was born November 24, 1916, in Oden, Arkansas, to Elbert Milton and Martha (Wilhite) Carrier. She married William DeWitt Scott on November 22, 1935, in Lee County, Arkansas, where they made their home until they moved to Lafe, Arkansas, in 1958. In 1961, they bought Scott’s Grocery in Paragould which they operated until their retirement. She was a member of East Side Baptist church and always enjoyed the visits from the Home Bound Ministry of her church.
Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, and a daughter-in-law, Loretta Scott, two great granddaughters, Tiffany and Kinsey McClelland, and three brothers Glenn, Chester and Roy Carrier.
She is survived by her son Donald; daughter Bettie (Larry) Dowler , all of Paragould; brother Wilton Carrier of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Lora (Rodney) McClelland, Lisa (Dickie) Hays, Leslee (Jeff) Eskola, Trent (Jana)Dowler and Robin (James) Norman; nine great grandchildren. Kaylea (Brian) Howard, Erin (Austin) Moss, Michael Kohfeldt, Bradley Norman, Nathan (Felisha) McClelland, Mollie Edwards, Austin Eskola, Grant Eskola and Jacob Hays; three great great grandchildren, Braxton, Zoey and Rowan Howard.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Heath Colonial Chapel With Rev. Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men of East Side Baptist Church: Jack Cox, Kelly Wright, Terry Rogers, Bob Morris, Gaylon Anderson, and Butch Cooper. Memorials may be sent to East Side Baptist Church.
