Harold Lavanda Morrow, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at The Crossing in Searcy, Arkansas. Harold was born in Stanford, Arkansas on February 14, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Morrow and Goldie Fern Orick; brother, Edward Morrow; and sisters, Elgareda Williams and Reba Gramling.
Harold, as a younger man, loved to fish. He loved to catch slab crappie and bream and to have fish fries with all the family. He was always a faithful Christian and was involved with his church and family all his life. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Searcy. He was one of those grandpas that doted on his children and grandchildren, and all holidays were always a big deal at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. There was no lack of love at their house.
Harold worked for Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind and had a canteen at Foothills Vocational Technical School in Searcy. He maintained that canteen from when Foothills first was built in 1966 until he retired at age 69 in 1998. Everyone that went through Foothills during those years knew Harold and always spoke fondly of him.
Survivors include his wife, Matha Jane Davis, Searcy; son, Jeff Morrow, Greenbrier; daughter, Catherine (Randy) Everett, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashly) Morrow, Chad Morrow, Sarah Everett and Seth Everett; great grandchildren, Beaux McPherson and Ryan Morrow; and a brother, Joe (Eloise) Morrow, Newport.
Visitation is Monday from 10:30-12:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon with James Anderson officiating. Burial is at Morrow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Homes Inc. in Paragould, or the Westside Church of Christ mission fund in Searcy.
