Harold Alton McIllwain, 70, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday at AMMC. He was born to Elsie Davis on December 18, 1951, and raised by his grandparents, the late Charles "Elmer" and Beatrice McIllwain. He married Brenda Weaver on June 6, 1970, after courting her since they were 14. Harold spent years as a plumber, but his profession does not begin to tell his story. He was a faithful member of Transformed Church. Harold was a man who loved God, his family, and his friends. He had a servant's heart, and he preached his funeral by the way he lived. He enjoyed camping, boating, and skiing. He and Brenda enjoyed taking their church youth group on lake trips. Harold had a 1989 black Corvette, and he got to experience a Corvette's power one time on a less traveled highway. He could listen to the Beach Boys constantly without getting tired of their music.
While all of these things describe Harold, he was extremely proud of being "Pa". He always had a blast wrestling with his grandchildren. Although his life seems short, Harold took advantage of his opportunities to love his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to the fullest.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda McIllwain; son, Rob (Anna) McIllwain of Cape Coral, Florida; daughter, Lana (James) Maynard of Alma, Arkansas; mother, Elsie Davis of Paragould; grandchildren, Makayla McIllwain of Ft. Myers, Florida, Madison McIllwain of Dayton, Ohio, Landon (Miranda) Moore of Ozark, Missouri, Malory Moore of Alexandria, Indiana, and Cameron and Hunter McIllwain of Cape Coral; great grandchildren, Nikolai and Zayne; brother, Lee, and sisters: Linda, Mary, Patty, Debbie, and Roxanne.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday at 3pm at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Brent Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery. Pallbearers are Grandson, Landon Moore, and nephews Wayne Weaver, Clint Weaver, Nick Weaver, Casey Parson, and Joshua Slatton. Honorary pallbearers are brothers-in-law, Johnny Weaver, James “Runt” Weaver, Alan Parson, Donnie Slatton, Jim Carner and friend Randy Hedge.
