Grady Lee Davis

Grady Lee Davis, 92, of Paragould passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born July 14, 1926 in Mt. View, Arkansas.

Grady was a very outgoing person who loved to meet his friends for daily coffee at McDonald's and Saturday morning breakfast at Waffle & Pancake House. He also loved to hunt golf balls at Fox Hills. He was a member of 2nd and Walnut Church of Christ. PFC Grady Lee Davis was a WWII veteran serving from 1942-1944 in the 40th Infantry Division, 185th Battalion in the Philippines serving as a rifleman foot solder in Leyte and Luzon. Grady received 2 Bronze Stars plus several other distinguished medals. He worked 37 years at Foremost Dairy before he became a school bus driver at Greene County Tech, which he loved. He had previously been a Shriner, 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the American Legion.

Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Lauretta Woods Davis and Caney B. Davis; daughter, Sandy Ford; brothers, Dixon, Doyle, Tom, and Jim Davis; sisters, Thelma Jones and Mabel Moore. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Wanda; daughter, Sharon Houston; grandson, Jason (Nikki) Houston; great granddaughter and the light of his life, Rylee Houston.

His family would especially like to thank all of the wonderful caring staff at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Their constant words of inspiration were very uplifting during this sad time.

Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6:00-8:00 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:00 am with Rusty McMillon officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Lasting memorials may be made to Children's Home of Paragould.
