Gordon Paul Baldwin III, 71, of Helena-West Helena, passed from this life on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Lafe, Arkansas, on February 23, 1952, to the late Gordon P. Baldwin, Jr. and Wanda D. Bracken Baldwin. Paul attended Knobel High School and graduated in 1970. He participated in the ROTC program which included some time in the Army on active duty at Fort Riley, Kansas. Paul then attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he received his Associate and B.A. degrees. He married Nancy Specking on March 11, 1978. He became a police officer and retired in 2011 as a Captain with the Helena-West Helena Police Department, having received numerous commendations and awards including the Medal of Valor. Paul was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lafe. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Specking Baldwin of Helena-West Helena; brothers, Gary (Jane) Baldwin of Trumann and Greg Baldwin of Jonesboro; sisters, Theresa Baldwin of Paragould and Tina (Billy) Hogard of Biggers-Reyno; niece, Amy (Keith) Bayird of Paragould; nephews, Heath Baldwin of Paragould, Zac (Jo) Hogard of Pocahontas, and Ben (Samantha) Hogard of Lake City; six great nieces; and three great nephews. Paul is also survived by his wife's family which consists of fourteen nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and great nephews, and two great-great nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10-11 AM at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. A graveside funeral will begin at 11:30 AM at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Edgar officiating.
